Hens and Chcks

Hens and Chicks work well as a groundcover near rock walls or in rock gardens. The leaves can be green, burgundy, or a combination. Flower spikes appear in the summer of yellow or pink on well established plants. They grow 4in to 8in tall and form fleshy mounds of growth. Plant in full sun but they will tolerate part shade. Hardiness zones 4 to 8.


Vinca Darts Blue

Vinca Darts Blue is a groundcover that works well in shady areas and to help control erosion. It has blue flowers in the spring months. It grows 6in to 12in tall and 24in to 36in wide. Plant in part to full shade. Hardiness zones 4 to 9.



Irish Moss

This great dark green foliaged groundcover grows only one to two inches tall. It prefers to grow in part sun to part shade and likes normal watering conditions. In addition to being used as a groundcover it works great in fairy garden pots and bonsai pots as an accent plant.



English Ivy

English Ivy is grown for its glossy green evergreen foliage and is used as a groundcover in shaded areas. It can also be used for erosion control. It grows 8in tall and can have vines as long as 15 feet. Plant in part shade to full shade. Hardiness zones 4 to 9.



Lanium

Lanium can be used as a groundcover or a border in beds. It produces pink flowers from spring to mid summer. Grows 6in to 12in tall and can spread 12in to 24in wide. Plant in full sun to part shade. Hardiness zones 4 to 10.



Pachysandra

Pachysandra has dense evergreen foliage that forms a glossy green carpet. It has a spreading growth habit and will grow up to 8in tall and 14in wide. Plant about 6in to 12in apart. Plant part shade to full shade. Hardiness zones 5 to 8.



Creeping Phlox

Creeping Phlox can be used as a groundcover in rock gardens, rock walls, and spaces in between patio stones. They can also be used for border plantings. The have profuse flowers in shades of pink, purple, red, white, or a combination in the spring months. They grow up to 8in tall and can spread up to 24in wide. Plant in full sun. Hardiness zones 3 to 9.



Sedums

Sedum is very hardy and easy to grow. Use it in rock walls, in spaces between pathway stones, or in rock gardens. Sedums come in a wide variety of colors reds and green, and textures. Various colored flowers bloom in the spring and summer months depending on the variety. Grows 4in to 6in tall and spreads 12in to 18in wide. Plant in full sun. Hardiness zones 3 to 9.



Sedum Baileys Gold

Baileys Gold Sedum can be used in rock walls, in spaces between pathway stones, or in rock gardens. It has sunny yellow star shaped flowers that bloom in the spring months. It grows up to 4in tall and spreads 12in to 18in wide. Plant in full sun. Hardiness zones 3 to 9.



Sedum Dragons Blood

Dragons Blood Sedum can be used in rock walls, in spaces between pathway stones, or in rock gardens. It has green leafed foliage with red tipos. It flowers pink to bright red blooms in the summer months. It grows 3in to 4in tall and can spread up to 15in wide. Plant in full sun. Hardiness zones 3 to 9.



Sedum Voodoo

Voodoo Sedum can be used in rock walls, in spaces between pathway stones, or in rock gardens. It has burgundy colored foliage and rose colored blooms in the summer. It grows up to 6in tall and can spread up to 10in wide. Plant in full sun. Hardiness zones 3 to 9.



Scottish Moss

Bright chartreuse foliage grows only one to two inches tall. Place this beauty in a part sun to part shade area with average moisture and it will perform well. In addition to being used as a groundcover it can be used in fairy garden pots and bonsai pots as an accent plant.



Thyme Pink Chintz

Pink Chintz Thyme is an evergreen groundcover with many tiny pink flowers in the summer. It can be used as a groundcover and in spaces between rock walls. It grows up to 2in tall and can spread up to 18in wide. Plant in full sun. Hardiness zones 4 to 8.
